Your graduation timeline starts about a year before you expect to finish. The earlier you meet with your advisor and apply for graduation, the smoother your final year will be.

About One Year Before Graduation
Meet with Your Advisor
- Review your remaining requirements
- Confirm upper-division, SL, and WI requirements
- Check your minor (if applicable)
- Ask if remaining courses will be offered
- Identify any substitutions needed
Plan Your Final Year
Work with your advisor to map out your final semesters so you can register for the right courses and stay on track.
Submit Your Application for Graduation
Apply as soon as you and your advisor know your graduation term.
Submitting your application allows the Registrar to begin your degree audit and ensures you receive commencement information.
Application Deadlines
- Summer — February 1
- Fall — June 1
- Spring — September 1
Semester Before Graduation
Watch for Your Official Degree Audit
If you applied before the deadline, you will receive an official audit from the Registrar.
Review Remaining Requirements
Your audit will show anything still needed. Courses in progress may appear incomplete until finished.

Your Graduating Semester
Commencement Information
The Registrar typically sends commencement details about one month before graduation.
Commencement is usually held on the Friday of finals week in Fall and Spring.

Cap and gown are distributed through the WNMU Bookstore. Watch for instructions about pickup or shipping.
