What Is a Degree Plan?

A degree plan is an academic roadmap that helps you understand the courses and requirements needed to complete your program at WNMU. Degree plans help students and advisors work together to build schedules, track progress, and prepare for graduation.

Your degree plan may include:

  • General education requirements
  • Major or concentration requirements
  • Minor requirements, if any
  • Elective courses
  • Prerequisite or co-requisite information
  • Requirements unique to your program or major

Degree plans can help you make informed registration decisions, stay on track toward graduation, and avoid taking courses that may not apply to your degree program.

At WNMU, students can review program requirements in the Academic Catalog before receiving an advisor-created working degree plan. Degree plans are typically shared through Office 365 and OneDrive so students and advisors can review and update them together over time.

Quick Tip: Degree plans are flexible planning tools. They may change if you update your major, concentration, catalog year, transfer credit, or course selections. If you are unsure about possible schedule changes or degree requirements, your advisor is here to help.

Why Degree Plans Matter

Your degree plan is more than a list of classes. It is a planning tool that can help you prepare for registration, understand your program requirements, and stay on track toward graduation.

Stay on Track

Review completed requirements, identify courses still needed, and better understand your progress toward graduation.

Plan Ahead

Prepare for future semesters by reviewing course sequencing, prerequisites, and when required courses may be offered next.

Graduate with Confidence

Work with your advisor to adjust your plan, explore options, and build a path that supports your goals.

Tools That Support Your Academic Planning

Degree plans work alongside several other academic planning tools and resources at WNMU. These resources can help you understand program requirements, review academic progress, prepare for registration, and connect with advising support.

You don’t have to navigate degree planning alone. Degree plans are most effective when reviewed regularly with an advisor.
